Energy improvements for your home

There are many improvements you can make to your home to make it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Save money on your power bills and reduce carbon emissions at the same time.

What support is available for residents?

We have partnered with Draught Busters to support residents who want to improve the energy efficiency of their home.

These upgrades may include:

  • Insulation
  • Draught proofing
  • Reverse-cycle air conditioners for cooling and heating
  • Hot water services
  • Shade structures

What does the Draught Busters service offer?

Residents can receive:

  • Energy assessment to find the best ways of improving energy efficiency at home
  • Assistance with getting quotes
  • Referral to qualified and trusted tradespeople to conduct the work, organised on your behalf

All homeowners can access help from Draught Busters.

Support for residents on a low income

If you are a household experiencing energy bill or other financial stress, you may be eligible to receive a subsidy for the energy assessment and improvements.

These subsidies are funded by the Victorian Government’s Energy Savvy Upgrades Program and Moreland City Council.

Who can access the subsidies?

Moreland residents can access the subsidised assessment and upgrades if you are:

  • On a low income
  • Unemployed
  • Have a long term medical condition/disability
  • Caring for someone with a disability
  • Other similar circumstances

How do the subsidies work?

You will need to pay $100 for the Residential Scorecard Assessment (normally valued at around $495) and contribute a minimum of $800 to the cost of upgrades. The Victorian Government will pay $800 towards upgrades, plus Moreland City Council will also contribute up to $2,200. Finance options are also available to eligible participants.

Examples of the upfront savings participants can expect are shown below:
