Energy improvements for your home
Cutting energy wastage around the home is an important step in Australia’s clean energy transition. Luckily, there are plenty of things you can do.
Install a free energy monitor
The Victorian Government supplies free in-home smart energy monitors that allow you to take charge of energy use around your home by seeing how much electricity each appliance uses. Energy monitors such as Powerpal are free and easy to install. Claim your Powerpal today.
Heating is the biggest source of energy use in a home in Moreland. Upgrade your heating to energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning for lower bills. The Victorian Government is offering $1000 rebates to eligible homeowners.
Buy energy efficient appliances
Buy the most energy efficient appliances you can afford when it’s time to upgrade. They may cost more upfront, but they’ll save money and energy over time. Moreland’s Free Energy Advice Service can help you understand what to look for and available rebates.
Insulation and gap sealing
Leaky houses are freezing in winter and hot in summer. Sealing window and door gaps and external window shading can make a huge difference and be cost-effective. Insulation in your ceiling is another essential. ReNew’s Insulation Buyers Guide has tips, suppliers and products.
Financial support for people on a low income
For Moreland homeowners living on a low income, Council can upgrade your home to make it more comfortable by paying up to $2000 towards insulation and draught-proofing.
Eligible Moreland residents can receive financial support for ONE grant only – either Energy Upgrades or Solar.
If you are a Moreland resident and have participated in Energy Savvy Upgrades or earlier rounds of a Moreland City Council subsidy program – you are not eligible for this program.
Eligible residents can access the Victorian Government’s solar rebates of up to $1400 and interest-free loans to help install solar.
A limited number of $3000 subsidies from Moreland are also available to low-income households. Find out more.
