A goal of the ZeroCarbonMoreland Climate Emergency Action Plan is for Moreland City Council to be recognised for its leadership in collaborative campaigning for a safe climate.
The Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA) Moreland Community Scholarship was established to support women and gender diverse people in Moreland to develop environmental leadership skills.
“The WELA program is a fantastic opportunity to connect with other women in the environment space. I’m really looking forward to the conversations about what it means to be a woman, and leader in the climate change movement right now, and how we can do it better,” said Denise.
“We’re at such a critical point with the clock ticking loudly on climate change. We need everyone doing whatever they can to keep our planet at a safe and healthy temperature”.
“I hope the program will help me to become a more effective leader, so we can better show the impacts of climate change on our health, pushing for better government policy and a more sustainable healthcare sector. We have some fabulous young women in our student network who I’d like to support and foster. ”
“I’ve lived in Moreland along Merri Creek for most of the past 24 years. I’m particularly excited to receive this scholarship as it will connect me in closer to my local community and the environmental programs in the area. ” Said Denise
The scholarship covers the full cost of participation in the WELA leadership development program.
