Solar on heritage – it’s easier than you think

MEFL have been working with Moreland City Council to make it easier for those living in heritage overlay precincts to install solar.

New guidance, including a sample application, is now available on Council’s website – www.moreland.vic.gov.au/planning-building/environmentally-sustainable-design/installing-solar-panels-on-heritage-homes/

  • If you live in a heritage precinct and the panels will be visible from the street then you need to apply for a planning permit
  • Permit applications are usually processed within 10 working days, and cost under $200

Moreland residents can get an obligation free solar quote from MEFL’s Positive Charge team. Their suppliers can let you know how much solar you can generate by placing panels on your street facing (and non-street facing) roofs. If you install through Positive Charge before 1 March 2018 they will refund the planning application fee for the solar permit. Contact Positive Charge on 9385 8555 or visit www.positivecharge.com.au to find out more.
