Sustainable Fawkner

What have they done?

Sustainable Fawkner was formed in connection with the principles of the Transition Towns movement and works in close collaboration with Fawkner Community House.

The community group provides regular opportunities for a diverse range of local people to come together to share ideas and inspiration for living sustainably.

These include:

  • monthly food swaps where residents come together to  share excess produce and meet others
  • tree planting and bird survey days along the Merri Creek
  • development of a community garden in Fawkner
  • Running workshops on practical aspects of sustainable living

THEY ALSO PLAY A KEY ROLE IN CONNECTING AND INFORMING LOCAL PEOPLE ABOUT THE ISSUE OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENGAGING THEM TO TAKE ACTION
