A community where everyone can get around by active or zero emissions transport
Our community goals for 2025 are:
1. A significant decrease in the proportion of Moreland residents driving to work.
2. A higher than average (Melbourne metropolitan) ownership of electric vehicles.
WHAT CAN I DO?
Cycling, walking or catching public transport helps reduce local air pollution and helps us all move towards a zero carbon future. Moreland also has a great network of public electric vehicle charging stations which are 100% renewably powered and free to use.
GET AROUND MORELAND ON FOOT
Make walking a part of your routine and you’ll be happier, healthier and feel more connected to the people in our neighbourhood.
GET AROUND MORELAND BY BIKE
Moreland has an extensive network of on-road bike lanes and off-street shared use paths, for you to get around without using a car.
CATCH PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Trains, trams and buses get you across Melbourne and to major shopping areas like Brunswick, Coburg and Glenroy.
START A RIDE OR WALK TO SCHOOL OR WORK EVENT
Your workplace or school are commute destinations and great places to introduce sustainable transport initiatives.
JOIN A CAR SHARE PROGRAM
Choosing car share membership as an alternative to car ownership gives you access to a car when you really need it. It also provides a nudge to use a more sustainable travel option all other times.
USE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
If more active travel options are not practical, an electric car or bike powered by renewable energy is the low emissions option.
